The world is facing a necessary transformation of industry – from resource-intensive processes to smart, sustainable and inclusive systems. We are looking for entrepreneurs and ideas that can contribute to a future where innovation and technology strengthen both society and the environment.

A partnership for innovation

This year’s Founders Challenge is organized in close collaboration with our main partner Quokka – specialists in product development, design and technology. We are also proud to have A Working Lab (Akademiska Hus) as a partner and sponsor. Their support makes it possible for the winning team to develop their idea in an inspiring and creative environment in the heart of Gothenburg’s innovation ecosystem.

Focus Areas 2025

We are looking for startups with technology-driven ideas that solve a concrete problem in a smart, sustainable and innovative way. The solution should have the potential to grow and contribute to the future of industry and society through technology, sustainability and new thinking. The competition is open to startups developing a product – whether software, hardware or a combination of both.

• Mechanical and mechatronic products

• Smart tools within industry and production

• Technology that reduces waste, energy use or climate impact

We are looking for ideas with the potential to change how we build the industry of the future – sustainable, scalable and ready to take the next step in their technical development. Your idea should be sustainable, scalable and innovative, with the potential to improve life for many people.

The Final

On December 11 we invite you to the Founders Challenge Final at Founders Loft.
During the evening, entrepreneurs, investors and partners gather for an inspiring networking event where the four finalists pitch their ideas to the jury and audience.

One winner will be announced on site – and will take home a prize worth a total of 100,000 SEK.

The Prize – from idea to next step

 

Development Grant from Quokka (value 85,000 SEK)
The winning startup will have the opportunity to realize its technical vision with the support of Quokka’s expertise through a development grant worth 85,000 SEK – a chance to take the next step in your technical development.
 

The support is tailored to your needs and may include:

• Construction and mechanical design: sketches, CAD models, 3D printing.

• Electronics and embedded systems: sensors, control systems and IoT solutions.

• Programming and software development: development of apps, digital platforms, AI algorithms or other software functions.

• UX and UI design: interfaces that make the product user-friendly and attractive.

• Testing and validation: practical evaluation of function, durability and performance in Quokka’s test lab.

• Concept development and industrial design: design and visualization of the product.

• Product development advisory: support to prioritize functionality, optimize design, solve technical challenges and plan the next steps of development.

Founders Loft Startup Boost + Workspace at A Working Lab (value 15,000 SEK)
As the winner, you will also receive a place in our Startup Boost program – including coaching, mentorship, IP and legal support, as well as access to Founders Loft’s network and community of founders. Thanks to our partner A Working Lab (Akademiska Hus), the winning team will have access to a creative workspace during the entire program period.
