Ida Hansson and Hållbar Odling featured on Swedish national TV – challenging the future of food systems

When innovation meets persistence and belief in the future, something real happens.

In a recent feature by SVT Nyheter Örebro, we follow Ida Hansson and her journey with the incubator company Hållbar Odling – a journey that begins in two garages in the small town of Nora, but carries the potential to reshape how we think about food production in Sweden.

Together with her two co-founders, Ida cultivates rare citrus fruits such as yuzu, sudachi and finger lime – crops rarely associated with Nordic climates, yet now reaching some of Sweden’s top restaurants.

Behind the cultivation lies a larger story.

A determination to challenge conventional thinking around what can be grown locally. A drive to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient food system. And a clear vision: That Sweden should become self-sufficient in everything that can be grown here.

Ida’s work has also recently been highlighted by Impact Loop, showcasing how she is pushing boundaries by growing citrus in underground greenhouses – an innovative approach that enables year-round cultivation with lower resource use.Read more here: https://www.impactloop.se/artikel/hon-trotsar-odlingsklimatet-satsar-pa-citroner-i-nedgravda-vaxthus

The next step in the journey is to find a long-term partner – a property owner willing to help realize a purpose-built greenhouse. A space where the cultivation can scale, while also opening up for visitors, learning and inspiration.

In the end, this is about people who dare to lead the way. About challenging established systems. And about building a more sustainable society – together.

At Founders Loft, we are proud to be part of Ida’s journey.
