You can now vote for your favorite in this year’s Startup 4 Climate!
We are very proud to announce that three alumni from the Founders Loft Incubator have been nominated for Startup 4 Climate – a competition where climate-innovative startups get the chance to gain visibility and influence the future. Rivus Batteries, Generation Waste, and Sunsurf Solar are sustainable companies that, at their core, work towards the global climate goals. The competition highlights young companies that bring forward technologies and ideas that can accelerate the energy transition and reduce climate impact.
At Founders Loft, we support entrepreneurs who not only focus on growth – but also on climate, society, and sustainable change. Rivus Batteries, Generation Waste, and Sunsurf Solar are clear examples of what such innovation can achieve. We are excited to follow their continued journey in Startup 4 Climate and hope that many will vote, follow, and cheer them on!
About the Alumnies
Rivus Batteries has developed groundbreaking technology for flow batteries based on water-based organic electrolytes. Instead of using heavy metals like vanadium, Rivus uses organic materials available in unlimited quantities. This technology has the potential to revolutionize energy storage by offering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional batteries. Rivus Batteries was the winner of Founders Loft’s Idea Competition "Founders Challenge" in 2023.
Generation Waste works to make food waste visible, measurable, and manageable. Their services include analytics platforms that track how much food is discarded, as well as training and practical tools to help restaurants, hotels, schools, and other organizations cut their food waste in half. Generation Waste was part of the incubator from 2018 to 2021.
Sunsurf Solar develops floating solar modules that can be installed on reservoirs, artificial water surfaces, and similar areas. The aim is to avoid taking valuable land into use, reduce water evaporation, and benefit from the naturally cooler conditions above water surfaces – which can improve solar panel efficiency. Sunsurf was co-incubated with Innovatum during 2023–2024.
